Less than 150 kids this year, yet there was soo much confusion as to who was wrestling who...very disappointed in the whole day. Coaches were supposed to get in free with 10 or more kids (only 2 of our coaches did) Why such a weight difference in 11-12? There was a bracket 104-105 then it jumped from 106-118??? With so few kids there could there not have been 4 man round robins for all the groups?

I believe there were 316 kids wrestling. When you have five divisions and only 316 wrestlers it is difficult to keep brackets within 2 lbs. My opinion is the walk up of over 200 they did the best that could be done.

You are right Big Time over 300 kids this year.
People changing bout sheets at the table because they "think" that the wrong kids are wrestling without coming up to the head table is insane and has a ripple affect on the bracket and the tournament.
As far as weight differential.....its 10.7% as stated in the IKWF by-laws. And anything above that was approved by the affected coaches......and since we are talking about coaches....All coaches who had any issue with their pass were resolved according to what was promised. I know that I turned away "coaches" who did not have a current card or were not on the IKWF roster.
I know that we are not going to make everyone happy but people need to get their facts in order, get furhter educated about the sport of wrestling and the rules, and not make broad baseless accusations.
Even with all the curve balls thrown at us walking out of the arena at 2:15 is pretty good.
Thanks to all who came and as you know we always continue to make improvements to make our events better and better.

It was nice to get out of the tournament at such an early time.
Since there is so much emphasis put on seeding points for Midget State, it would have been nice to see the kids kept wrestling kids closer to their weight rather than invoking the 10.7% allowable room. I know it was to split club members up but we had wrestlers with enough kids within 2# to fill an 8 person bracket only to have the kids split into 3-4 different brackets against much lighter and heavier kids who are probably 3-4 weight classes away for Midget State.
It's also unfortunate that if you happen to get a bad draw the first round, the best you can do is 5th. You might be the 2nd best wrestler but since there is no seeding or full wrestlebacks, you loose out on high seeding points.
All in all a nice tournament.

You are right.....one of the changes for next year will be that the format for Midget-Novice-Senior will be a 4-man Round Robin. This will keep kids closer in their weights and eliminate that fact of getting a bad draw in the 1st round. This way we will get the true winner of the weight class for the tournament!!! It should also eliminate people at the table changing bout sheets because all the kids will eventually wrestle each other.
