I have no clue on H.S. wrestling- will most State champs and placers from the IKWF and IESA wrestle up a level or will they wrestle both levels? Are most freshman wrestlers newbies?

This is just my opinion based on what I've seen over the past several years. An accomplished (500 or better record) wrestler should do very well on the freshman and even J.V. level. If he is a State Placer in the IKWF, he will probably be a varsity starter (depending on the program he goes to), and depending on the weight. The heavier the weight, the more difficult it is to start and be competitive. If he is an IKWF stud (i.e. Klimara, Reel, Brooks etc), well you can see what happened there. This is the way I see it. And obviously it comes down to the wrestler and how he advances, works in the off season, who his coaches are ..... lot's of variables.
